Camouflage restaurant

The beautiful historic rooms, the clean lines of the interior décor, the fire in the fireplaces, the fascinating Andy Warhol paintings and above all in the balanced tastes of Nouvelle cuisine. The soul of the Erdödy Palace has a name – it is the Camouflage Restaurant.

Jewish culture in Bratislava

Bratislava is a multicultural town, where people of Slovak, German and Hungarian as well as Jewish ethnicities have been living next to each other for centuries. Forty-year period of communism is associated with destruction of material monuments of Slovak Jewry, demolition of synagogues, cemeteries, with destructing libraries and archives.

Thus you may have a look at resting place of famous rabbi Chatam Sofer who, during his activities in the post of chief rabbi of Bratislava, became unofficial head of European and world Jewry. The Mausoleum of Chatam Sofer is created by a torso of onetime cemetery of the 17th; there are buried the most significant rabbis of Jewish community of Bratislava in 23 graves and 41 crypts, of whom Chatam Sofer is most distinguished, as well as great uncles of German poet Heinrich Heine.

Danubiana Art Museum

The museum is one of a few similar institutions around the world that opened in the magic year 2000 and is situated on the banks of the Danube, one of the most romantic rivers of Europe that symbolically connects three Central European countries: Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. A witness of many historical events (particularly in connection with the three countries), the Danube and its lovely environs was our inspiration and a challenge to construct a museum that would match its beauty. However, a chance encounter with Gerard Meulensteen from the Netherlands played a decisive role in the construction of the museum. This great admirer, collector and patron of visual arts showed interest in my plans and agreed to support the construction of an international museum built by the River Danube. Thanks to his willingness and support, the project was finally launched. The site was chosen only 15 km away from Bratislava and the museum was built. It offers the visitors an opportunity to enjoy the harmony of art and nature that delights the eye and heart and enables them to draw inspiration, energy and optimism necessary for the present lifestyle.
